Women’s war effort during the Civil War was at a great amount and the women ended up playing a crucial role during the time of the war whether it was taking on the responsibilities of men who had gone off to fight in the war, or whether it was to aid as much as possible in anything they could for the war, and even whether it was something the could do around their communities to help out in any way possible. In this way, the women of the 1800’s were very helpful and supported the war effort to a great extent because it affected almost all women of that time period.
Firstly, women had to assume the role of alpha “person” in the house because many of the men who left to join the war left their wives at home to watch over the home front. The women at home had to carry on their usual chores and tend to everything as needed. This meant that the women, who had basically been abandoned by their husbands, had to help support their family by themselves in order to survive. Also, the women of this time period also had to assume the chores of the men, who had gone off to the war, which meant that they had to work the fields, provide food for the family, and provide protection for the family. This meant that because there was no man to bear the role of leader in the households, the women had to summon an immense amount of strength to fend for their lives. In conclusion, without the women, the casualties of the war would have been much higher, not because of deaths of soldiers, but because of deaths of people not able to fend for themselves.
Furthermore, some women also went off into the war where they became helpful in healing and in fighting for their country. Some women went into medical fields in order to help heal the wounded to get people back on their feet as quick as possible in order to keep fighting. This shows how the women used their abilities to help the support the war effort by doing things in the war that they knew how to do. Also, women might have gone to work for various organizations such as the United States Christian Commission. This also shows how women used their specific talents in certain fields that that they were capable of succeeding well at as to help support their country. In conclusion, the women of the Civil War supported the war effort by joining many different organizations that aided the soldiers of the war.
Finally, women also helped out around their communities because of the men who were not there to support their families because they had gone off to war. Some women might have gone to help with daily chores for families who had no one to take care of them because both their mothers and fathers went to war, or some other certain circumstance. This exhibits how women used everything in their power to do something good for the community to help out during war time and make it more bearable. Also, women might have went and helped produce for other families in order for them to live. This also shows how the women of the Civil War supported the war effort and showed this through their thoughtful use of their time by doing whatever they could to help the people of their country. In conclusion, women not only helped in the war and at the home front for men who went of f to war, but women also went out of their way to help out communities in order to make conditions during war time more bearable.
In conclusion, women played an important role in support of the war effort during the Civil War by finding things to do under harsh conditions to help support their country and create an easier life during the war.
